After the months long drama of ‘will they won’t they’, Congress finally pulled the plug on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and decided not to form a coalition in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election. However, it’s just the first one in the long list of troubles that Arvind Kejriwal is facing. According to media reports, a considerable number of AAP MLAs are ready to jump ship and join the Congress. These speculations surfaced after the recent meeting of suspended AAP MLA Sandip Kumar with Delhi Congress’ Chief, Sheila Dixit.
Yesterday, the Delhi Congress spokesperson Jitendra Kochar claimed that nine AAP MLAs showed the willingness to join the Congress party. Kochar further alleged that there is a “stampede” in the Aam Aadmi Party after the Congress curbed the speculation of an alliance with the Kejriwal-led party. Speaking to reporters, Jitendra Kochar urged, “There is stampede in AAP since its efforts of alliance have been rejected by the Congress. Around 9 sitting AAP MLAs are in touch with us and want to join the Congress. They have talked to Sheila Dikshit and let us see when they join the party”.
In the meantime, AAP refused to make any comment on the issue. Although, Sandip Kumar turns down speculation of him joining the Grand Old party, he agreed that he went to meet the Delhi Congress President with a delegate of Valmiki community members over their demand for political representation. The Sultanpuri MLA went on to add that he is working for and promoting Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in his constituency, though he hadn’t joined the party.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Sheila Dixit announced that the Congress would not form an alliance with AAP in Delhi for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. AAP leaders hit back on Congress afterwards, claiming it has a “secret understanding” with the Saffron Party and urged that their party was ready to fight against the “unholy alliance”.
Prior to this, AAP supremo announced to sit on a fast unto death for the sake of Delhi’s statehood from March 1. However, he had a full-fledged plan to take political mileage out of it. The model code of conduct for the 2019 General Elections would have kicked in soon and under the provisions of the code, such conducts are proscribed, providing Kejriwal a face-saving tactic to end the fast drama. According to reports, the reason of not forming an alliance with AAP, even at a time when the grand old party is facing its second consecutive defeat in the general elections, is because they find the Kejriwal led party very unreliable.
It seems that Arvind kejriwal is mentally unfit for politics. He firstly accuses each and every politician for no reason hoping it will win him the elections. And after damaging their reputation, he apologizes when defamation suits are filed against him. Arvind Kejriwal has started his politics from ‘sab mile hue hain ji’ and now he resorts to ‘hame bhi mila lo ji’. Kejriwal may have cheated the People of Delhi last time but they won’t fall into his trap once again and will vote for the best.
