Following the much overwhelming response to the trailer of ‘Thackeray’, the makers of the much awaited ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ had the trailer of the movie released on YouTube. Directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, this movie is based on the iconic book about the ex-PM, as written by former media advisor to the PM, Sanjaya Baru.
Starring Anupam Kher in the lead role of the ex-PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh, this movie also stars Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Akshaye Khanna as the adviser cum movie narrator, Sanjaya Baru etc. The movie is all set to release on 11 January 2019, making it a crucial clash between the iconic ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ and ‘The Accidental Prime Minister.’
The movie begins with Sanjaya Baru narrating how Manmohan Singh was elected as the Prime Minister, and the way he ruled the nation in his tenure as the PM. The movie also explores his relationship with the Gandhi family, who have been purported to call the shots from behind.
To be honest, Anupam Kher has a blast as the ex-PM Manmohan Singh. From his manners to the way he spoke, and the way he acted, the seasoned actor has done full justice to the role. Equally charming is Akshaye Khanna, who is brilliant as the media adviser cum narrator Sanjaya Baru. He has some really explosive, rather savage dialogues lined up his sleeve, which is not going to go down well with certain people in the Lutyens’ brigade.
The movie trailer is completely unapologetic in its treatment of the subject. Nobody is a stranger to the fact that the Nehru Gandhi dynasty has been a bane to the nation since the time we got independence from British rule.
The condition only worsened during the Sonia-Manmohan rule from 2004-2014, and the film has paid attention to that fact in full detail. Be it the tussle on nuclear energy, or the atrocious peace pact with Pakistan that suggested to hand over the Siachen glacier to the latter, the movie trailer seems to promise more and more as we watch the film on 11 January.
Given that any criticism of the Nehru Gandhi dynasty raises eyebrows throughout the left-liberal ecosystem, the movie trailer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is bound to give massive burns to both the Congress sycophants and the members of the Lutyens’ brigade.
In fact, the reference of Bheeshma in context to Manmohan Singh’s role in the UPA rule is bang on. Like Bheeshma is not spared from criticism, despite his individual brilliance, Manmohan Singh is also not immune to criticism, despite his impeccable record individually. As one wise man rightly said, ‘The only thing that makes the evil win is for the good people to do nothing.’
Also, the way Arjun Mathur is portraying Rahul Gandhi is absolutely like the sixer hit out of the park. He has left no stone unturned to depict the ‘PM in waiting’ that the Congress President, and the way the entire ecosystem had almost helped him in his ‘ascent to power’. All in all, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is a no holds barred trailer, and that increases the excitement of the viewers for the ultimate trailer. The game is on.
