Ever since Supreme Court announced their verdict in favour of the women attempting to enter the Sabarimala temple in Kerala, dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, which is out of bounds for women of a certain age range, the narrative has taken a different turn.
While the liberal intelligentsia is leaving no stone unturned to enter the temple premises, backed by a ruthless, rather brutal state government, the devotees of Lord Ayyappa are equally determined to not let their tyrannical methods to impose the Court’s decision succeed at any cost.
Into this league stepped in actor Vivek Oberoi, who was asked to give his opinion about the Sabarimala verdict. He replied as follows:-
As reflected in the long video, Vivek Oberoi is a dedicated worker towards the cause of women empowerment, who unlike the self declared feminists, doesn’t like to spread much fanfare about this. But what he said about the verdict is something that no left liberal would be able to digest easily.
Vivek Oberoi confessed that he too is a devotee of Lord Ayyappa and has visited the Sabarimala more than once in the last 16-18 years. He declared his open support for the people struggling against the arbitrary verdict on the Sabarimala, saying that he’s all for women empowerment, but certain traditions must be respected as well. To quote him, ‘In Kerala, the Red Brigade is the big boss, in Delhi, the Supreme Court is the Big Boss, but in Supreme Court, there is only one big boss, Lord Ayappa……..’
The next few minutes are a clear case of how to take keyboard feminists to the cleaners without going overboard. Vivek Oberoi took a dig at these so called feminists who fought for ‘gender equality’ on this issue, saying that if these efforts were directed towards the actual issues that ailed women, India would’ve been a much better place to live in. He isn’t far from truth, for wasn’t this the same rhetoric which the keyboard feminists tried to shove down our throats in the case of ‘Padmaavat’ release?
To quote his views, ‘………As far as associated with the emotions in ‘women empowerment, and women’s rights, which is where this started…………I truly am a believer in women empowerment, we’ve rescued more than 2000 girls from child prostitution etc., we’ve tried to empower them though education. We’ve given them jobs and also tried to make them economically independent……..
…..But when it comes to this point, my only wish is that, I wish how much energy, time and efforts these NGOs, people, even women’s right organizations etc. have put into the issue whether women can enter Sabarimala or not, this type of effort needs to be put into more of how we can get our girls into schools? How do we get toilets for our girls, so that they don’t have to go to excrete in open air? How do we protect them from rape? How do we give them strong rights so that they can protect themselves both physically and mentally? I wish that was the focus………’
Vivek Oberoi even criticized the hypocrisy that is currently being exercised in defending the ultra feminists who are trying to defame the people protesting against Sabarimala verdict by Supreme Court. He pointed out that there are several temples in India, where only women are allowed, for e.g. the Melmaru or Bhagati Maa Temple at Kanyakumari, where only women are allowed. He asked the reporters if that would determine to discrimination as well?
Vivek Oberoi also pointed out that the issue is being wrongly projected as anti women to the world, thanks to the left liberal narrative. Trust the left liberals to take this roast lying down if they can. On a serious note, we must appreciate Vivek for not toeing the line of the left liberals and the keyboard feminists and standing unequivocally with the Sabarimala devotees. May the devotion to Lord Ayyappa succeed against all odds.
