Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has issued a set of new instructions for the employees of the state government. These are strict austerity measures which will have to be followed by all involved in the government jobs. According to the new directions issued officials have been asked to cut short their expenses on foreign tours and take economy seats on flights. They have also been asked to avoid holding lunch or dinner meetings at five star hotels and to cut down other expenses on office stationery, furniture and other upholstery. The earlier practice of changing furniture and upholstery every time a new officer came into the office also will now be scrapped. In total there is an 18 point order which lists all the do’s and don’ts that has been issued by the UP Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey on Wednesday according to a senior official.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath has taken development and growth to a new level in the state, his performance and goal driven approach has been changing the face of the state. Keeping in line with the austerity which CM Yogi himself adheres to the government employees too have been advised to cut down administration expenses down to the bare minimum in order to make optimum use of government funds and resources for developmental work. The use of technology and computerisation has drastically cut down the workload in government offices in many sectors. The five page order also states that employees who are currently in redundant posts might be shifted to other departments in order to make the best possible usage of their skill in other areas. CM Yogi seems to be adamant on changing the work culture in the government offices which have been notorious for their inactivity in the past. A special permission needs to be taken from now on in UP to hold lavish dinners and lunches in five star hotels at the taxpayers expense.
The most important part of the order released for the UP government employees is the one which states that vacancies in class four and other similar posts such as gardener, plumber etc. should be filled not with regular appointments but should be outsourced with approval of the finance department. Top posts such as that of advisor and chairman of any department too should be outsourced and no new posts should be created to accommodate them. CM Yogi will also carry out periodical reviews of various government run schemes at regular intervals and those which are no longer useful should be scrapped. No new office building or residential complex will be constructed and purchase of new vehicles too has asked to cease with immediate effect. The austerity measures passed by the UP government led by CM Yogi will be binding on all government departments, offices, PSUs and state universities and is very likely to improve the performance of all the wings of the state.
