According to media reports, the Indian Army has taken revenge for the brutal murder and mutilation of their brother in arms which had happened a week earlier. A senior official of the Border Security Force (BSF) told Amar Ujala that the BSF had avenged the death of their soldier 2 to 3 days back by killing at least 11 soldiers of the Pakistan Rangers and Pakistan Army. This drastic measure had to be taken in order to make the Pakistan Army pay for the brutal way in which they had killed and then mutilated the body of BSF Head Constable Narendra Sharma on the International Border (IB). Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh avoided speaking directly about the magnitude of the avenging actions taken by the BSF but hinted towards more such planned attacks on the Pakistan Army in the future.
Rajnath Singh spoke about how the Indian Army had been advised not to instigate matters by firing first across the border but if the instigation comes from the Pakistani side they were told not to hold back and retaliate in the harshest way possible. The killing of BSF head constable had been a cowardly incident which took place when the six personnel of the BSF had gone near the IB to cut the tall grass along the fences. Narendra Sharma unfortunately got caught in the unprovoked firing from the Pakistan side, his body was then brutally mutilated and his eyes were gauged out by the cowardly Pakistani soldiers. This incident which took place on September 19th had shocked the nation and the entire Army, the disrespect shown to a fallen soldier had enraged Indian soldiers and crores of civilians alike.
Wary of retaliation from the Indian side post the disgraceful incident, the Pakistani rangers had cleared area upto five kilometres from the IB. They had vacated the posts making it difficult for the BSF to avenge the death of Narendra Sharma. BSF got the opportunity two to three days back which they grabbed with both hands, killing 11 Pakistani soldiers in the process. Not satisfied with this, the Indian Army and especially BSF have planned more such counter measures in the coming days to weaken the morale of the Pakistani soldiers which seems to be high at this time after the election of Army backed Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Rajnath Singh chose not to reveal the enormity of the BSF attack but rather chose to suggest that it was indeed large. Rajnath Singh said, “Something has happened, I can’t tell you what. It happened, something substantial. Trust me something big has happened 2-3 days back, now wait and watch what happens in the future.” PM Modi and Rajnath Singh have always maintained that the lives of Indian soldiers are the topmost priority, for every fallen Indian soldier, the Indian Army now has full authority to retaliate. The surgical strikes which took place two years back today on the September 29th too had been carried out to avenge an attack on the Uri base camp of the Army. Pakistan needs to be constantly reminded of their position and needs to be kept in check time and again. The killing of 11 Pakistan Rangers and Army personnel by the Indian Army might be enough to silence them for a while but more such actions need to be taken swiftly to break their will and if this avenging mission is taken as an example then Indian Army and BSF are all up for it.
