Abu Dhabi, the capital of United Arab Emirates is all set to get its first Hindu temple by 2020 all thanks to the Abu Dhabi government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government of Abu Dhabi had approved the plan for construction of the Hindu temple during PM Modi’s first visit to the country back in 2015. In recent developments, a legal entity has been registered with the local government for the construction which can now finally begin. The process of appointing consultants for the construction will begin within a month as it is a part of legal requirements to start the construction process. The construction and management of the temple will most likely be carried out under the Global Hindu religious and civic organization Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha better known as BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. The legal entity under the name Mandir Ltd., for the construction work to start, too has been registered by the organization to ensure smooth flow of the construction process. This will be a dream come true for the millions of Hindus who work and go for tours to the Middle East countries.
According to Sadhu Brahma Viharidas, in-charge of Middle East at BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, once the consultants are selected they will help in each and every part of the process. The consultants will ensure that every local rule and regulation can be adhered to in the construction process. The temple committee is hopeful of the construction process being completed on or before 2020 at the latest. Sadhu Brahma Viharidas went on to add that the authorities at BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and the legal entity registered will work towards ensuring that the goal is achieved without much trouble.
The temple is going to be an architectural masterpiece and will be a sight to behold in the days to come. The initial plan for the temple is to have seven towers which represent the seven emirates in the UAE. A 14-acre piece of land at Abu Mureikhah in Al Rahba area on the Abu Dhabi-Sweihan-Al Ain Road, close to the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway has been selected for the construction site. Stone carvings for the temples will be done in India by local stone artisans and will be transported for final assembly in the UAE. The Abu Dhabi Global Market and Ministry of Community Development have approved the registration of the legal entity and have categorized it as a charity.
The credit for getting sanctions for building a Hindu temple in the Middle East goes to PM Modi and his ministry which has made Hindu identity a brand and a global image in the world. PM Modi’s diplomacy has ensured a hearty welcome for the Hindu temple in the Middle East countries. According to the Indian ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri, the charity committee after registration is eligible to accept donations for starting the construction work. The committee can now access the bank accounts to get hold of the donations made from around the globe.
