5 times the Communists betrayed India- a final throwback as their end approaches

You need to bury your head in the ground like an ostrich to think that the scourge of Communism has never affected or harmed India. Only a couple of days ago, the national anthem was played in the Tripura Legislative Assembly for the first time, as the newly elected members took their seats.

Why is this an issue?

Dear readers, this is Tripura, which was once ruled by the Communist Party of India (Marxists) under the leadership of Manik Sarkar, allegedly India’s poorest chief minister. The national anthem, unlike other states, was played for the first time ever in the history of this state’s legislative assembly. If this is the condition of the erstwhile Communist bastion in India, imagine how much hatred this ideology has in store for India, where the national anthem is deemed blasphemous to the ears a former ruling party.

However, this is not the first time that the communists have resorted to such treacherous acts. The communists, especially those in India, are notorious for their seditionist and hypocritical policies. Here are 5 unforgettable instances of how the Communists betrayed India, her culture and her ethos:

5. Denouncing Independence and actively collaborating with British imperialism

To be frank, eminent nationalist and revolutionary  Vinayak Damodar Savarkar has been a scapegoat for the Indian intelligentsia, which consistently named and shamed him for being released under a general amnesty order in 1921. It has been falsely called a ‘mercy petition’ by the left leaning intellectuals. However, what these folks themselves conveniently hide is the massive betrayal that the Communists themselves gave to India.

During the Quit India Movement in 1942, the Communists unlike the others, vociferously backed the British. According to Shri K.K. Chaudhuri, who wrote the popular treatise on this movement titled, ‘Quit India Revolution: The Ethos of its Central Direction’, such people were more imperialist than the British themselves.

Ironically, the very Savarkar who was hounded for his alleged ‘betrayal’ along with RSS, vociferously protested against the horrible decision of Partition. The Communists, who claim to be pro India, called for further disintegration and used to cry ‘Ye Azaadi Jhoothi Hai’ (this freedom is a farce), whenever their demands did not see the light of day.

4. Supporting China wholeheartedly in the 1962 Indo-China War

Another instance when the communists betrayed India was the time when China invaded our territory in 1962. At a time when the country was fighting against the evil designs of the Chinese, communist leader and Kerala chief minister E.M.S. Namboodripad, backed by leaders such as EV Ramaswamy Periyar, declared wholehearted support to the Chinese. He refused to call the Chinese infiltration an act of aggression and asked India to calm down and call for peace and talks.

Mr. Namboodripad was never prosecuted for this atrocious stance, although disillusioned leaders like Ajoy Kumar Ghosh (ex member of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) broke away from the party to form their own factions.

3. Extending support to the dark period of emergency in 1975

Often, we have heard the Communists crying ‘fascism’ when prime minister Modi attempts to crack down on people working against the nation. But general  ignorance has allowed these communists to hide another betrayal that they’re responsible for. When the dark period of internal emergency was implemented between 1975 and 1977, it was once again the Communists who openly backed Indira Gandhi in her nefarious designs.

According to a statement issued by the CPI [M] soon after the emergency was imposed:

“The Communist Party of India extended its support to the declaration of the national emergency by the government because it fully realized the urgent necessity of restoring such swift and firm action for warding off an imminent threat of the subversion of our economic system.”

2. Converting Bengal into a living hell

Another huge betrayal was the conversion of Bengal, once a confluence of cultural wisdom, knowledge and nationalism, into a living hell and a breeding ground for terrorism. The way they have whitewashed the sins of Jyoti Basu is something that though surprising, can never be forgotten. Such people ‘fight and protest’ for the rights of women, and yet, it is the same ideal of communism that won’t allow any form of dissent. I hope we remember the Marichjhapi massacre and the fate Anita Dewan suffered for finding loopholes in the way Jyoti Basu’s government functioned in the healthcare sector.

1. Urban Naxalism + Breaking India

This is one of the worst betrayals that the Communists have ever given to this country. The Communists have time and again tried to break the spirit of India with their continuous terrorism, glorified as ‘People’s Revolution’ and backed unanimously by the Left dominated Indian intelligentsia in the form of ‘Urban Naxalism’. How else can one explain the way these people believed in slogans ‘Bharat Tere Tukde Honge, Inshallah’, ‘Bharat ki Barbaadi Tak Jung Rahegi’ etc.?

While the list of Communist sins is endless, Narendra Modi’s ascent to power has brought such enemies out in the open. With the national anthem now resounding in Tripura’s assembly, we are assured of two things. One, that the days of communism and its nefarious designs are numbered. And two, the concept of breaking India must not be allowed to see the light of the day
