This article is totally with respect to the “fury” doing rounds because of the alleged remarks made by some allegedly “caste ridden” mindset belonging to an allegedly “communal” party against the allegedly “backward” castes and condemned by the allegedly “secular” parties because “peace and a forward developmental approach” is what all of us want in this allegedly “peaceful” nation called India. Not to forget the allegedly “just and pro democratic pro-secularism” media which is simply amazing at reading the allegedly “hidden meaning”.
So many “allegations” right! That is not a new writing style of any sort but the lack of veracity in what we get to read or listen or even understand. Believe it or not, all of us are biased towards something or the other- right or left for us is left and right for the other one who stands facing us. So, it is all about perspectives which as sad as it may sound can never be different.
The post is neutral but there is a possibility that the first long sentence might be seen as a critique of the media or anyone- believe me no one really cares. You are free to think whatever you want but if freedom for expression exists then freedom for criticism exists too and yeah! Freedom to get offended is our unwritten birth right and so, if you get offended, I might get offended too and that is where the things end.
Why do we force meanings into the sentences made? Why can things be not taken as straight as they are? Why is it that every time a controversial news gets the highest TRP? Again, do the media even realize that they are responsible for the majority of the views in the country? It all depends on how they project things. Why then we get so cynical about everything? Why is it that statements have to be tweaked or implied meanings have to be projected?
Another way of looking at the dog statement would have been,” Please do not ask the Central Government to respond to everything! Sometimes people are also responsible! Sometimes, you as the citizens can bring a better change. But everyone will hold us responsible for things even if they are as trivial as hitting a dog! Why so negative about us!”
Maybe it was just a sarcasm most of us either failed to see or saw but projected it wrong!
I do not debate the point that Mr. Singh should have chosen his words wisely, but the reason here would be because he should know that there are scavengers out there ready to feed on him and his party. The reason should have been more “saving my own skin” than anything else. On a very logical note, it is highly unexpected of someone who has been ex-army chief to pass such irresponsible statements.
And why to blame the media, they are just doing their job; giving their customers i.e. us exactly what we want. It is we who seek controversy, it is we who choose to see the negative and ignore the positive; so if they project the news that way, they are just catering to our whims and fancies. Try it once! Start condemning a negative piece in the news, all or rather most of us, if an apology doesn’t follow then you must be sleeping.
PS: This is not an appeal in favour of Mr. Singh. This article just wants to emphasize that there always is a different side to the truth. Most of us just fail to see it or choose to ignore it. And what we see and what we ignore is what makes the country what it is!
So, it is ultimately your choice! What you get will be what you deserve.
